Decorative Gate

A client asked if I could make a gate that included a wrought iron sculpted heart that had hung on her house for years. She has always loved hearts.

This is what the old gate looked like. She had already added the garden arch above the gate, which gave the entrance to her yard a great feel. But the gate was sagging and it was time for a new one.

After some careful consideration, I decided to apply a frame to hold the iron piece. This helped to hold the piece in place, as well as create a framed look that brings a focal point to the artwork.

I also designed the gate to hold up well, lots of dowels in the main frame, glue, and extra metal brackets to make sure it would hold up over time. I also wanted it to look great no matter which side of the gate you are standing on.

The client was extremely happy with the look of the gate. She plans to paint the gate and fence later, and this was just the welcoming touch she was looking for.
